Broke a spoke in the first 30 seconds of my warmup. Fortunately I was able to get a loaner wheel so I could race. Heat index was 102 and the 20.4 mile course was tough with continuous rollers. Road a pretty even pace for most of the race. Ended up with a 25.5 mph average. Considering the heat and the difficulty of the course I was pleased with my effort.
The combined age of the first and second place finishers was 4 years younger than me. Glad to see the youth of America is spending more time in the saddle and less time playing video games and updating Facebook. :)
I was registered for the Masters race in the afternoon but could not get my wheel fixed or line up a loaner so I was a DNS.
