As other riders have reported, this is a fun race and a great way to get some intense training in. The race is run on a big oval with one (non-factor) low-speed corner. It is a points race with sprints every 5 laps, which is key: it animates things and keeps the race from sliding into a tactically negative exercise in watching each other.

With the summer crit season warming up, one of the best things was that I got to practice sprinting in a group. I got points in 2 of the 4 sprints, but I was never in danger of winning any of them. I was able to re-learn a lot, though, and hope to put that knowledge to good use this summer.
